Would I like to go on a Disney Cruise?

Approximately 28 days ago I was asked to take on a particularly challenging work assignment.

A cabin for 4 had become available on the September 17, 11 nights sailing of the Disney Wonder cruise ship. The cabin was immediately put on a 3 hour hold by "Let’s Take the Kids Travel Agency" Manager.

Two minutes later I was asked if I would consider taking my family on this cruise.

The objective of “the assignment” being to experience first hand the difficulties, decisions, adventures, pleasures, etc involved in taking a Disney cruise and reporting these to our clients by way of our website on a regular daily basis, if possible.

How could I accept this assignment?

Like all young families, we were up to our ears in commitments. We were smack in the middle of home renovations, and mortgage renegotiations. Our 5 year old daughter, Gabriella, was to begin her second year of Kindergarten….but this year in a French Immersion program. .. she would miss 2 weeks of school!!!. My 2 year old, Kiara, would be turning 3 on September 18. Kiara was looking forward to having the house and garden turned upside down by the hordes of kids and parents my wife, Maritala, feels are necessary to help celebrate any festive occasion. How could we consider disappointing her!!!

And then, there was my regular work load!

Would my loyal clientele at "Let’s Take the Kids Travel Agency" be able to survive 2 weeks without me.? Who would help them make decisions on their own holidays? Would they all rush off to Expedia and be lost forever, or would they remember my years of tireless service and wait for my return, meanwhile faithfully reading my daily reports of life on the high seas.

Five minutes of deliberation and the decision was made. As you can see from the attached photo we needed to grab the moment.

We would take on this assignment!!.

So watch out Disney! here comes the Robinson family...

On to... The Adventure Begins
